THE FUTURE IS BUILT HERE: POWERING AUSTRALIA’S SOVEREIGN DEFENCE CAPABILITIES
As the global strategic landscape rapidly evolves, the mandate for the Australian defence sector is clear: we must be able to design, manufacture, and sustain our critical technologies right here at home. True sovereign capability is not just about infrastructure; it is about cultivating the engineering minds and resilient local supply chains required to power it.
From 7 to 9 May, the REDARC Defence & Space team stepped onto the floor of the Adelaide Careers & Employment Expo not just to exhibit, but to actively build that future. Engaging with over 200 organisations and thousands of attendees, we saw firsthand the immense enthusiasm and raw potential ready to drive the next generation of South Australian advanced manufacturing.
THE TRUSTED ENGINE BEHIND THE PRIMES
When primes and the Australian Defence Force deploy in high-stakes environments, failure is not an option. They require a supply chain that is as robust and unyielding as the platforms they operate. As a trusted Tier 2 partner, REDARC Defence & Space operates at the critical intersection of innovation and reliability. We do not just supply parts; we engineer the ruggedised power solutions that act as the vital nervous system for complex tactical platforms.
Expo attendees experienced this integration up close. Our engineering team led hands-on technical hardware demonstrations, cutting through the theory to show exactly how our solutions perform under pressure. By exploring our fully equipped INEOS Automotive Grenadier display vehicle, future innovators could see our technology seamlessly integrated into a modern, heavy-duty platform.
Just across the floor, the Australian Army’s Bushmaster stood as a powerful, real-world testament to the types of heavy-duty, tactical platforms our power solutions are engineered to support. It provided a tangible reminder of why we do what we do: protecting those who protect us.
SOVEREIGN CAPABILITY STARTS WITH PEOPLE
You cannot secure a sovereign supply chain without first securing a local talent pipeline. The ability to innovate and solve complex problems must be fostered on Australian soil. This requires a highly collaborative ecosystem, which was brilliantly facilitated by Defence SA across the three days.
We were proud to see our industry partnership highlighted at the Flinders University stand, and it was fantastic to connect with many of our other partners in the education sector, such as the wonderful teams at Mitcham Girls Secondary School and Tonsley Technical College. It is exactly these types of cross-sector partnerships that will bridge the gap between academic theory and advanced, real-world manufacturing.
Throughout the showcase, we held vital conversations with high school, TAFE, and university students about our work experience and internship programmes. We mapped out the diverse, high-tech career pathways available within our dedicated defence facility (from intricate assembly technicians to advanced mechanical and software engineers). We are not just offering jobs; we are offering a chance to shape the nation’s security capabilities.
LEADING FROM THE FRONT
A vision this critical requires leadership at every level. A massive thank you to our incredible team who poured their time and energy into the stand, mentoring and inspiring the next wave of industry professionals: Anthony Kittel, Scott Begbie, Emma Kittel, Crispin Paintner, David Murfett, Hugh Bila, Ebony Eastwood, Sean Connor, Salwa Ali, Joshua Gomez, Luis Felipe Jaimes Hernandez, Katie Gao, Chris Turner, Sarah Drew, and Alicia Luu.
The energy across the three days was electric. If the talent we connected with at the Adelaide Showground is any indication, the future of South Australian manufacturing is exceptionally bright. REDARC Defence & Space is incredibly proud to be powering it.
