EXPLORING ADVANCED DEFENCE SUPPLY CHAINS
Lonsdale, South Australia – On 16 March, REDARC Defence & Space had the privilege of hosting a distinguished international delegation at our advanced manufacturing headquarters. The visit brought together senior representatives from ASC Pty Ltd, BAE Systems Australia, BAE Systems UK, and the Ministry of Defence UK Submarine Delivery Agency, to explore the future of advanced defence supply chains and international collaboration.
Hosted by REDARC Managing Director Anthony Kittel, the delegation was provided with an in-depth tour of our world-class commercial and defence facilities, demonstrating how Australian industry is stepping up to support complex, trilateral defence initiatives.
STRENGTHENING AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRY CAPABILITY
A core focus of the engagement was the vital role of Australian Industry Capability (AIC) in supporting global defence partnerships. Discussions throughout the day centred on how agile, secure, and innovative supply chains are essential for delivering and sustaining sovereign maritime capabilities.
As global defence requirements become increasingly complex, strong partnerships between prime contractors, government ministries, and local industry are critical. This visit provided a platform to showcase how Australian-owned manufacturers can seamlessly integrate into these highly regulated global supply chains.
“Collaboration across the international defence ecosystem is crucial,” said Anthony Kittel, Managing Director, REDARC Defence & Space. “Hosting our partners from the UK and Australia allows us to demonstrate exactly how our Lonsdale facility is equipped to support robust, secure, and technologically advanced maritime programmes. We are committed to investing in the technology and the people necessary to serve as a trusted partner.”
A Tour of Innovation
A highlight of the event was the dedicated site tour of REDARC’s state-of-the-art facilities, providing guests with a firsthand look at the infrastructure driving our sovereign capability. Key areas explored included:
Advanced Manufacturing & Automation: The tour highlighted REDARC’s integration of collaborative robots (cobots) and automated production cells. Guests witnessed the precision of our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines, which ensure scalability and reliability for mission-critical defence applications.
EMC Laboratory & Testing Facilities: Demonstrations within our advanced anechoic testing chambers illustrated our rigorous electromagnetic compatibility and environmental testing standards, proving our ability to build electronics that survive the harshest environments.
Engineering & Design: Guests engaged directly with the engineering and manufacturing teams who design, test, and deliver robust power solutions for complex operational environments.
LOOKING AHEAD
REDARC Defence & Space remains committed to fostering innovation and industrial cooperation. We extend our sincere thanks to the representatives from ASC, BAE Systems, and the UK Ministry of Defence for their time, valuable insights, and continued partnership.
