Australian Made, Mission Ready – Sovereign Capability

WHY LOCAL MANUFACTURING MATTERS

With Australian Made Week wrapping up, it’s a great time to look at what local manufacturing actually brings to the defence industry. At REDARC Defence & Space, being Australian-owned and operated is about much more than just a logo on our products. It’s a core part of how we deliver value to the Australian Defence Force and our prime partners.

Since 1979, we’ve taken a “design, build, and test” approach right here in South Australia. Over time, that’s evolved from a local preference into a critical sovereign capability.

AGILITY AS A STRATEGIC ADVANTAGE

The real strength of our local manufacturing is how our teams work together. Because our design, engineering, and production teams sit under one roof, we aren’t slowed down by the usual hurdles of international supply chains. We can move from a design concept to a prototype—and eventually to a field-ready solution—with an agility that offshore competitors simply can’t match.

“For us, the feedback loop is everything. If there’s an issue, we solve it quickly. If there’s a requirement for a custom configuration, we can pivot and deliver. This means we aren’t just a hardware supplier; we’re an agile partner helping our customers stay ahead of the curve.”

– Andrew Ezis, Capture Manager REDARC Defence & Space

BATTLE-HARDENED BY DESIGN

Our products have a long history of being tested in the harshest environments on the planet. From the extreme heat and fine dust of the Australian outback to the rugged conditions required by modern defence platforms, we build to survive. That heritage is built into everything we do, giving our partners confidence that our technology is robust enough for the most unforgiving, mission-critical applications.

BUILDING SOVEREIGN RESILIENCE

In an era of global supply chain uncertainty, domestic manufacturing is a matter of national security. By investing in our Lonsdale-based Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub, we’re doing more than just manufacturing; we’re building resilience.

Keeping these skills in Australia means we can sustain the platforms our forces depend on, regardless of what happens in the global market. We’re proud to support local jobs, nurture engineering talent, and ensure Australia retains the industrial capacity it needs to protect its own future.

looking ahead

The “Australian Made” badge is becoming a recognised hallmark of quality and integrity across the global defence landscape. As we continue to expand our reach, we’re proud to represent Australian innovation on the world stage.

As Australian Made Week comes to a close, we’re celebrating the people behind the scenes – the engineers, technicians, and support staff who make it happen every day. We’re committed to continuing this work, ensuring Australian manufacturing remains at the very heart of our national defence capability.
